Resolved Question: Should 'No Loitering' Apply to all Ages?
I've noticed that the elderly are allowed to loiter no matter where or when. You step into the mall and there's the same group of people in about their 60's sitting on a bench, no bags or anything, just sitting for 2 or 3 hours chatting. When I sit down, even by myself with a shopping bag in my hand I'm asked to leave the mall. They even sit on the display patio furniture which isn't allowed regardless. One of the reasons I'm asking this is because in my dads store, that I also work in, has a sofa around the entertainment section, mainly for looks or for shoppers who are taking a break. Sometimes the elderly people will just arrive in and think they can chill and watch TV. When I ask them if they need a hand and they say "No dear, we're just sitting" I'll say "well I'll have to ask you to go then, we don't allow loitering in here" and I always receive the same jibber jabber "You should respect your elders, if I want to arrive into a store and sit down I should be allowed - blah blah blah" to which I simply say "I don't care if you're 8 or 88 - no loitering, find a new hangout, thanks". I mean, I find it pathetic that an 18 year old can't step into a mall, do some shopping and then sit on the bench for a second (I thought the benches were for shoppers anyway) without getting kicked out, and elderly can arrive sit down every effing day. What do you think ? I'm not being 'rude' and if they aren't coming in to store and just simply chill out and watch TV then it's called loitering. If they are planning on shopping then fine, yeah they can sit. Same gos for every people, as I said - I don't care about age, I look loitering as loitering. My dad agrees with me completely. And I've caught far more elderly attempted to steal then teens. One lady in her 60's attempted to put a wii in her purse. To Inked - I receive what your saying about offering seats to them or to pregnant women, I agree, and I make sure to do so if I take the bus :) I'd rather myself stand than a needy pregnant lady who could end up falling over with the way some of the bus drivers are !

Voting Question: I want to have the living room's futon and TV?! Help please. 10 points to best answer?
Okay, so I moved downstairs about a year and a half ago. My room is like 30x15 and I hate how it's so big! Half of it is the storage area and the other is my room. It's so icy down here! The one heater does not heat this room up at every! And, even if we were to build a wall to separate them, it would still be too big for my liking. So, I asked my mom if I could move across the hall into a tiny room. I mean, really tiny room here! It's 6'6"x15'10". So, it's skinny and long. But, I really want it. My mom said that I could once we clean out the storage area of the other part of my current room. We have it pretty much cleaned out, so this summer I will be moving into it. Regarding my question...We just turned our patio into part of the home (still has a door connecting to the home) and we thought we would be out there every the time using it. My mom even spent like $2,000 to receive it done. She bought a 42" flat screen Samsung T.V. and a nice futon that turns into a bed. I am the only one that uses the room (it's just me and my mom that live together). Literally, she NEVER is out there. She hasn't watched T.V. on the new flat screen ever. And, no one ever sits on the futon, not even me, because we have a nice comfy seat. So, I was thinking that when I move into the little room this summer that I could have the futon as a sofa in the day time and a bed at night (it's comfy, I have slept on it before) and mount the T.V. on my wall (to keep room, since it's a tiny room!). I don't want the furniture I have right now...I have had it since I was 7 and I am now 15..unhappy, huh? My mom said she wanted to buy me new furniture anyways, so why can't I just put those ones out in the room that are never used into use?! Haha. Anyways, can you guys please give me some ideas on how to bring this up with my mom and how to convince her?! Thanks so much. 10 points to best answer. Sorry this was so long. -Kristi P.S. I am always out there in the room watching the T.V.

I'm renting an apartment and it has a sunroom instead of a balcony. I'm moving from a 3100 sq ft. home. And the apt is 1800 sq ft. It has every the necessary space to put my furniture except my patio set. Could I put it into a sunroom?

Resolved Question: What to use for painting lawn gnomes?
I recently "borrowed" a few of my pal's lawn gnomes. They've been going on adventures and sending postcards home and having every kinds of fun. They're almost ready to return, but I remember before they left hearing my pal and her mom talking about how they needed to be repainted. Their original paint is really faded from the sun, so I was going to paint them before I return them. However, I've never painted lawn gnomes before. They're some nice of hollow ceramic material I think and they have green shirts and red hats and pants and peachy-colored faces and brown boots. The problem with using spray paint (the nice for patio furniture and the like) I'd assume would be lack of control over where one is painting, unless I used tape and newspapers to block off certain sections? Or would I be better off using a home paint that I could brush on? Could I receive this in smaller containers, or is it only sold in home-painting sizes? Or is there such a thing as weather-resistant craft paint that comes in a smaller-sized container? Any suggestions on how to approach this project would be much appreciated.

Resolved Question: Of course you can charge a tenant for cleaning the place professionally?
I know you cannot charge a tenant for normal wear and tear after they move out, but you can charge them for cleaning. My previous tenant who was on my property for ONE YEAR did not wash the brand new carpets (they were brand new when he moved in) professionally. He just vacummed it. 200 dollars to have the furniture imprints and carpet cleaned professionally. He did not wash the windows, they were cleaned professionally when he moved and in the contract he signed he agreed to give it to us professionally cleaned. Instead he power washed them from the outside and broke two of the window screens in the process. He denies breaking the window screens, but whatever. I'm not even charging him for that even though I should!! He broke them $120 to wash the windows professionally The three bathrooms were not cleaned professionally either. Water stains, hair, toilet nasty. It was wiped down, but not clean. Mirrors in the 3 bedrooms have hand marks every over them. The garage was not cleaned sweeped or anything...the kitchen fridge and stove are disgusting. $250 to clean the bathroom and dust and clean mirrors professionally, kitchen appliances, garage area and the two patios that need to be sweeped. He put holes in the walls every over the home...he covered the holes with the wrong color even though we stated IN A LETTER if you want the right color please contact us...he ignored us and painted it himself the wrong color so half the wall is one color and it looks ugly. So we had to paint every the walls he messed up. BTW painting is only wear and tear if there are marks...these were HOLES put in by the tenant. 100 dollars to have the it painted and fix 3 broken doorknobs and a door that will not close. Total comes close to $700 dollars. This tenant said he cannot pay more than $500 dollars. I'm not even charging him for the screens he broke when he power washed the windows. I hate annoying and ungrateful tenants like this. This is the last time I let someone with bad credit move into my place. I felt sorry for him b/c he lost his home. Also he complains that he has no money but drives a mercedes benz and wears 300 dollar shoes. He claims he bought these things when he had money. WHATEVER!!!!

Resolved Question: I need advice about my In Laws please?
My husband and I recently moved from the US to El Salvador, which is where he is from and where his family lives. We are living in his families home (not with them, but just staying in an empty home that they possess but were not using) The home that we are using would cost approximately $45/month to rent here. They refuse to take our rent money, but we have done a lot of work to the home (built a patio in the back yard, purchased every new appliances etc) Also, we purchased every of the things in the home (bed, furniture etc) nothing except the actual home was purchased by them. Since we are living in their home, they feel that they have control over everything that we do. They cease over multiple times a day unannounced, and just walk right in since they have a key. Sometimes they arrive over so early that we are still sleeping. They demand to know who we have over, what we are doing at every times etc. They expect us to ask permission to have a pal over at the home, or to have my sister who was visiting from the US stay with us. We even purchased a used car, and they were upset about how much money we spent on it, almost like since we are living in their home for "free" we should not be buying "expensive" cars (we purchased a 1990 toyota corolla) It would be a huge slap in the face to them if we rented another home from somebody else. My husband has tried telling them to call us before they arrive over, but they just keep coming over unannounced. My husband just doesn't let it receive to him and doesn't ask their permission to have people over to t he home, and doesn't care when they receive mad about it. He just says to ignore it and "who cares." Is this something that I just have to accept an deal with since I'm living in their home? Any ideas on what we can do? It is a tricky situation since they are helping us while we are here (not financially, but just helping us learn every the Activities of daily living in a different country) and we don't have the option of moving back to the US at right now.

Resolved Question: Why are patio cushions so ugly?
I work at a big home improvement store and noticed how ugly every the patio cushions are. It's not just the color. The patterns, too, were often unimaginative strips or odd and tacky. No solids anywhere! It's like the same guy that designed plaid pants also had a go at patio furniture. And it's every the cushions - and like, there's a big variety of ugly. They did not just settle for one or two. What gives?

Voting Question: How to find reduced price quality patio furniture?
I live in a Dallas suburb and am looking for some patio furniture. I have purchased the usual big store stuff that lasts a couple of years and then falls apart, but now I want some quality pieces. Where is there a place that fits the bill in Dallas? I can find a deal on just about anything below the sun but not patio furniture. I'm finding that a quality Chaise lounge can cost five hundred Dollars and up a piece, is there nowhere to find quality at a reduced price? My wife is specifically looking for a pit group but we're not finding what we want and my internet searches are coming up short. The businesses with quality pieces hardly post a thing about them. There is a concerted effort to make it impossible to comparrison store as they dont give you prices or specific information. The sites are incredibly vague. Where to go?

Resolved Question: Is wooden patio furniture durable?
We are currently shopping around for patio furniture, and my husband and I are at odds about what to receive. He wants a metal set because he swears they are the best and most durable and every you have to do to take care of them is repaint them. I think that rust would be an issue, and really wouldn't look forward to removing any rust before repainting. Plus, I don't really like the look of most metal sets... and the ones I do like are very expensive. I really like the look of the natural wooden sets, but don't know much about taking care of them. The wooden sets usually tout that they only need to be oiled occasionally to keep it looking nice. Any care tips or tales of personal experience would be helpful.

Resolved Question: I received a Notice of Termination, without any warning, because my young kids are noisy?
My landlord served me a notice of termination today for "disturbing the peace of others." She explained that the kids were just too noisy for the old lady living below me. She never even gave me any warning. I did know that I was a bother to the lady because she once sent her son up to beat on my door and yell at me, in which I kindly apologized and offered that I was doing the best that I could (though I should have sent him on his way as rudely as he came). My kids are very well behaved, they spend a lot of time at the table doing crafts, and I'm very proud that they do not jump off the furniture, they have broken the habit of jumping around since we moved in, and they hardly ever run in the home (no, they are not perfect and they do occasionally forget, but I'm on them every the time and cease it quickly.) I know everything sounds noisy around here, her sliding door sounds like thunder when she goes out to smoke, her smoke comes in my windows, and the neighbors beside me sound like they are remodeling when they are actually just putting away their dishes. I've lived below before and I know a silent couple can sound like a rodeo through the floor. Can I really be terminated for the sound of my family living up here? Shouldn't I receive a warning first? can I battle it? I can't afford to break my one year lease to leave, but they can so quickly terminate it and evict me for my kids making normal sounds for kids? What do I do? Also, I dealt with the inconvenience of her smoking below my patio. I quit smoking almost a year ago and the odor makes it difficult for me, plus it is stinky and bad for our health. I never said or did anything because I wanted to respect what I believed was her right to live her lifestyle on her premises, and was willing to inconvenience myself to give her that respect. Now I want to demand that she not smoke on her patio as it is "disturbing my peaceful enjoyment." Should I? Hers is even illegal in oregon now, to smoke close to my door like that.

Resolved Question: my american bulldog won't stop biting my patio furniture?
i have a 1 year american bulldog. he is very lovable, and is potty trained, and obeys commands such ass sit, go outside, arrive, etc the basic. but he enjoys biting the patio furniture. lately every he does is turn over every the chairs, the rocking chairs, and cushions. we have plenty of chew toys and things for him to play with when we're not around (he only does this when we're not around.) we have already gone through 2 beds, he chews them open to take out the fluffy part inside of it. he give him plenty of excersise, and play with him every afternoon and take him to the dog park 2x's a week. i've tried the sour apple stuff but t's not working, i think he likes it. what else can i do? we always tell him no and ignore him and he know we are upset with him, but he doesn't care. it's silly cause when i walk up to a turned over seat or rocking seat and i look at him to tell him now, he already knows and bows his head and lays, like saying yea i know i wasn't supposed to lol. another issue i have is when we tie him up because we need to work on the yard or have company over that he needs to be tied, he does not cease barking. it is so annoying, we can never have him tied up. has plenty of chew toys and the only reason why we tie him when we're working on the yard, is cause if i am cleaning the pation with soap and water he just continues to dirty it, if i tie him, i clean, i finish and when it drys he can receive un tied and continue playing.

Open Question: What would you do in my situation? Please help!!!?
Okay well I lost my job in December and my husband and I decided that I should be a stay at home wife, and the bills are paid and I am generally glad. I clean, cook, read, run errands and do things I couldn't ever find time for when I worked, and I quit smoking due to less stress :). The only problem is he is having cutbacks at work and while we are still okay we could use the extra money for our summer vacation and new patio furniture and just luxury things we can't afford right now. So I'm considering getting a part time job for a little while, I want the money but I don't like to feel like I have to work, I just want it to be temporary which my hubby says is fine but I'm scared that bills will receive higher and I won't have a choice but to work. So should I stay a home maker or receive a little part time job for a little while? ADD: Oh and we're trying for a baby so I would like to keep money for the baby but still be a Okay... Yes I know how lucky I have it, I never thought I'd not have to work, my husband found a nice job and we make it down to the groceries and thats it, the extra money would be nice. Lol I sound lazy? Wow you don't know me! We have a big home and are remodling it, in other word I'M remodeling it, and cleaning, and organizing, which my hubby doesn't do, that is MY job.

Open Question: How can I arrange a small, furnished apartment to make it look and feel larger?
I am living in a tiny, furnished apartment in Costa Rica and it would be great if it felt more like home. The main room (which is comprised of the kitchen, "dining room", and sitting area) is an awkward L-shape. The furniture is actually more like patio furniture. I am a teacher, so buying big pricey furniture isn't yet an option. If anyone knows of any good sites, multifunctional pieces, or tips please help me.

Resolved Question: Can you give some honest feedback on these articles?
Have added some new articles to my little site Valuable Link... I know the topics are nice of dull (home and garden furniture in the main) but I want to only add helpful stuff for now till it grows up a bit... The plan is to increase the entertainment level gradually over time so I stay interested (every too easily distracted). Wise words, harsh words, I'm a big rabbit, I can take it... Let me know what you think... http://valuablelink.com/table-and-chairs http://valuablelink.com/coat-stand http://valuablelink.com/petrol-lawnmower http://valuablelink.com/patio-lights http://valuablelink.com/electric-kettle

Voting Question: I cannot sell my house, can anyone offer any advice to improve the chances of finding a buyer.?
I have a lovely modern 3 bed detached home in a really nice sought after location, but after 23 viewings I have had no offers. The home is a tiny detached 3 bed property with the 3rd bedroom being only 6ft 10 inches by 5ft 10 inches so not much of a bedroom. I use it as a study with a desk and computer in which works for me. The other 2 bedrooms are doubles and a good size with the main bedroom having an en suit. The relax of the property consists of a lounge, dinning room, kitchen, conservatory and downstairs toilet every of which are a good size and well planned. There is also off road parking and a garage. The home as a whole is not high spec with the kitchen and bathroom being there from when the home was built about 12 years ago. The home is well maintained and in good decorative order. I have a Lovely and well maintained rear garden offering lawn, patio area, borders and a Barbecue area every of which is not overlooked. I always ensure that the property is well presented for the viewer ensuring everything is clean and un cluttered. I have also removed some furniture to create more space. The agent believes that we have got the right price set but being that the property will only appeal to certain groups makes it harder to sell. It will not appeal to families with kids hence reducing the market potential. So far the comments from the viewers were that the home was not big enough and in particular the 3rd bedroom. People often comment saying you can receive more for your money in other area's (which are not so desirable). Are people only interested in square footage and not location? I thought location was key to buying and selling? Does anyone have any suggestions to improve my chances of finding a buyer.
